I advocate on behalf consumers and other individuals that have fallen victim to the abusive, deceptive, and/or unlawful activity of businesses, creditors, and/or debt collectors.  As a former law clerk in the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division, I fought to protect consumers from relentless, unscrupulous, and more importantly unlawful activities of some businesses and debt collectors.  I believe that a person should never neglect their debts or obligations to pay a debt.  However, many consumers become unable to pay their debts due to unemployment, divorce, health issues, and other unexpected life circumstances, not because they are deadbeats!  The fact that a consumer may owe a debt does not give a debt collector or creditor the right to harass or use deceptive collection practices.    As a licensed attorney in the State of Texas, I strongly believe that consumers need an advocate on their side to protect their rights and interests against businesses that prey on the ignorance of many consumers.  Often times, businesses and creditors will violate the federal and/or state consumer protection laws in their business dealings or communications with consumers.  However, many consumers are unaware of their rights in these circumstances.   Regardless of whether you are the victim of consumer fraud, unfair debt collection violations, deceptive trade practices, bad faith insurance dealings, landlord-tenant disputes, contract dispute, being sued by a debt collector, or any other consumer law/commercial litigation, it is generally always best to consult the advice of an attorney with knowledge and experience in the area of consumer law.   DON’T LAY DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT…KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A CONSUMER!!!
